    3. Well Sharon, How I wish that we had these Sandmen in our district here in North Queensland. There is a big row going on around our district because of the sand buildup in a number of creeks and our river, but the Gov.enviro[mental]ist will not give permission to clear the sand, saying the fish will be disturbed!!!What fish...they cannot swim up the creeks to spawn because of the sand...so there are no fish in the streams, probably only crocodiles which can walk over the sandbanks. The tourists coming to North Queensland, the trucks bringing in supplies to our towns and people trying to get to our nearest city for specialist medical treatment, are all fed up with hold ups on the roads sometimes sitting in their truck/cars for days every time we get rain which causes flooding over the roads because of the sand buildup in these creeks. As for our river, there are more sandbanks in it than out of it, which is resulting in flooding like we have never seen before. And with this flooding, the houses and farmers close to the river have to suffer...never had it so bad..We have just had a State Election and a big change has taken place so we hope they can overrun the Fed. Gov and give our disrtricts along the north coast a big present by cleaning out all that sand!..Sorry for the tirade but wish we had these "sandmen" in our district.
