Judie, I have a subscription to genealogybank.com which is all USA newspapers; fortunately though the database includes quite a few newspapers whose main focus was on Ireland, such as: Irish American Weekly 8/12/1849 – 7/4/1914 Irish Citizen 10/19/1867 – 10/10/1868 Irish Nation 11/26/1881 – 10/6/1883 Irish Voice 2/15/2006 – Current Irish World 1/11/1890 – 4/8/1905 They (the Irish American Weekly in particular), are chock full of Irish obits, marriages, and current political events of the day as they happened in ALL parts of Ireland and I've found it to be a wonderful source of information. In fact, would venture to say that I've found more funeral notices and obits that took place in Ireland in these US papers than I've ever found in the Irish newspapers themselves. Anyone who wishes me to look for a funeral / obituary or marriage notice for their Irish ancestors please feel free to email me directly and give me the particulars and I'll see what I can dig up for you. Although I've been researching Mason family in Co. Clare just a stones through from Limerick City, I'm not at all familiar with what documents might be available to assist in my search. I'm looking for family who died between 1880 and 1920 and wonder if newspaper obituaries for this time period would be available online or how one would go about a research request. Hope you can provide some infomation/guidance. Thanks again, Judie Mason Chicago
I'd love to see if you can find my grandmother's obituary - she died when my mother was only 6. She died on April 8, 1906 in Broadford, Cleanglass, Co. Limerick. Her name was Bridget O'Sullivan Doherty. Husband was John Doherty.
