    3. Thank you Joan. I actually have no interest in the India connection, as my ancestors went from Ireland with the 27th Foot Regt to South Africa, but I was hoping that there might be some of the extensive information you mentioned on those Embarkation Records too. Kind Regards, Jennifer -----Original Message----- From: Joan Birtles Sent: Thursday, April 12, 2012 1:19 PM To: irl-limerick@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IRL-LIMERICK] Embarkation Records Hi Jennifer In a guide I have by Peter Bailey, Chairman of the Families in British India Society, he shows the India Office References for the years covered for the Embarkation Lists together with the LDS Film No. i.e. my John Lynch was found on LDS Film 1835691 which covered Jan 1825 to Aug 1854 [L/MIL/9 series]....this is for the Hon. East India Co not the British Regiments. Originally I found it on the FHL Catalogue. There are also Depot Description Lists in the L/MIL/9 series which contain a lot of information also. From memory though you had to know whether in Artillery or other unit or name of ship. I'm not sure of this as I found these about 15 years ago. I'll see if I can find how to find the LDS FHL catalogue and how I found the film which as I said above was many years ago. Hope this helps. Joan Where did you find the Embarkation Records on the LDS site? 3. Thank you Joan. That site is mainly for research into SA's Dutch ancestry. I understand that the 27th went to South Africa in 1835 on 'The George' but have yet to find those embarkation records. Any ideas appreciated.
