Hi All, I am looking for any info at all on the parents of my great Grandfather Michael Naughton b 1835 Loughill, Limerick. He immigrated to Australia on the 'Spitfire' on 24th Aug 1863. His immigration papers say that he is the cousin of John Hurley b 1797 Limerick transported on the 'Prince Regent' on 15 Jul 1824 for insurrection in the 'Mohernagh' affair. John Hurley paid Michael Naughton's fare to Australia and Michael lived with John Hurley when he first arrived. Michael's sister Bridget Naughton born 1840 and her husband William Egan also came to Australia at a different time. Michael Naughton's death certificate lists his parents as Michael Naughton and Bridget Hynes. His sister Bridget who died in another state also has her parents named the same on her death certificate. Both immigration records list the same parents. Michael Naughton and Bridget were married in 1832 in Limerick. However her name is Bridget Enright on both the IGI records and the marriage records. So either her maiden name is Enright and she married a Hynes after Michael Naughton or she is Bridget Hynes who married an Enright before her marriage to Michael Naughton. Other children of the marriage were Margaret b 1842, Ellen b 1846 and Anne b 1848. There may also a James and a Patrick and others that I am not aware of. All children born after Michael were born in Askeaton. I would really like to know whether Bridget was born 'Hynes' or 'Enright' . Somehow I think that she is related to the 'Canty's ' but I'm not sure how. Cheryl
Hi Cheryl, Opps, I have Bridget Naughton's birth as 1840 not 1836!
