Christina, Query for RTE series of 'The Genealogy Roadshow' Would anyone know how to check on this record that came from rootsireland.ie.: Baptism of Anne HOOKS on 15 Sep 1844, at Cooraclevin, Dunkerrin, Offaly (RC), parents: William Hooks and Margaret Nolan. No proof that these people are connected to my William, John and Owen who came to NY in 1846-1860 era. Perhaps it should be directed to a researcher on RTE's series 'The Genealogy Roadshow' We have many "HOOKS" or HOOKES" coming from this area. The proven ones were three brothers marrying in the parish of Banagher and Cloghan, County Offaly. All listed on LDS Film # 1279226, Roman Catholic records. Their parents presumed (not proven) Roger(could be William) Hooks and Catherine Martin. William Hooks and Joanne Coughlin 03 Aug 1823 John Hooks and Margaret Butler 16 Nov 1830 John (really Owen) (my great grandfather) 02 Feb 1846. married to Rebecca Flattery Catherine Hooks and John Flynn, about 1846-1850 before coming to NY, marriage date not proven. Many other siblings of the above, but they married in NY City or Greene Co, NY This is a story that I have many questions about. Could someone tell me if the Ireland Genealogy Project would like to work on this mystery? They were tanners until they earned money for some land or find a different employment. Please ask questions by return email. All the wives of the Hooks seem to be from well-known families in the Banagher, Shinrone area. Thanks, Corrine
