Hi Patty I can't help you with your search but I just wanted to mention that my great grandparents also came out on the 'Tudor' and lived in Port Elizabeth. William Harold was from Derry but Ann McCoy, his wife, was from Limerick. There seems to have been quite a number of passengers from Limerick. They also had some of the children christened in the same church as yours. Unfortunately I have hit a brick wall as far as my crowd are concerned but, if I come across anything useful, I will let you know. Hi Monica I'm in the same boat as you as far as the brick wall is concerned. I have managed to obtain quite a bit of information from the Catholic Diocese in Port Elizabeth but it's everything that happened here. I know it's very difficult to get info in Ireland and everything was only recorded after 1864. Best we just KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON. What are you stuck with, maybe I can help on this side. Are you also in SA? Hi Patty Yip, I am in SA. I have been looking through quite a few Church registers here and have found quite a lot. My biggest nightmare are my Irish ancestors and, to make it more complicated, the one now could have originally come from Scotland and not Derry. I also had a French problem but that has, after donkey's years more or less got sorted out. Are you in PE? If so perhaps you could check out the Catholic Church there for William Harold and Ann McCoy's children though, I believe, she fell out with the Priest and her latter children were all baptised in the Anglican Church. Likewise, if there is anything you would like me to keep my eyes open for, I will be only too happy to do so. Hi Monica No, unfortunately I'm not in PE, I live in Durban. But you can contact Helena at the Catholic Diocese - email address: archives@aerosat.co.za . She will look up for you but they charge R80.00 per person per parish. Can get quite pricey. That's how I got all my marriage and baptism records. She will need dates though so if you can give her those, she will be too happy to do it for you. I also have a "French Connection" so to speak. My aunt says that my other great great grandmother was a LaTouche, originally from France and then Ireland. Well there are loads of LaTouche's in Ireland, mainly Dublin, but I can't find an Anne Maria. I even contacted the Latouche legacy but they have no trace of her either. Another brick wall. I'm also looking for a William Hughes (my great great grandfather) who was also from Ireland but where in Ireland I have no idea. I don't know why he ended up here either. He married Bridget Kearney/Carney. And so the mystery continues......................
