Hi Cheryl, I am a little late to the discussion but I have some information on a Naughton family from County Limerick. My great, great, great grandfather PATRICK NAUGHTON/NAUGHTEN/NAUGHTIN was born abt 1775, his wife is unknown to me. From the information I have he and his wife had at least 6 children, but probably more: 1. BARTHOLOMEW b. Nov 4, 1806 d. Jun 24 1867 Mt. St. Patrick, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada; m. Mary Vaughan in 1839; m. Catherine Carnahan/ Kearney bef. 1854 2. HONORA b. 1808; d. Jan 31, 1879 Mt. St. Patrick, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada 3. PHILIP b. 1809; d. bet1845-1851; m. ANN UNKNOWN abt. 1828 4. MICHAEL b. 1815; d. 1865; m. BRIDGET HYNES in 1832 5. MARY b. 1821; bef. 1857 Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada; m. JAMES SHANAHAN abt. 1844 6. THOMAS b. ?; d.? The place of residence, birth, marriage and death for this immediate family is a little confusing. Glin, County Limerick or Tarbert, County Kerry. PATRICK NAUGHTON/NAUGHTEN/NAUGHTIN was a farmer in Ballynamuddagh/Ballynamudgh, a Townland of Glyn/Glin, County Limerick. It is in the Civil Parish of Kilfergus, the Barony of Shanid and the Poor Law Union and Catholic Parish of Glin. Having said that the family is often reported as being from the Civil Parish of Kilnaughtin, the Townland of Tarbert, County Kerry. Tarbert is right on the border with Glin and the two places are only 2 miles apart. Since there was not a Post Office in Glin until 1827 the people living in Glin had to use Tarbert as their mailing address and had to travel to Tarbert to pickup and/or send mail. In addition, at that time the people living in Glin would send their children to school in Tarbert. BARTHOLOMEW NAUGHTON is my great, great grandfather. He married twice, his wife died and his second wife is my great, great grandmother. He and his first wife moved to Canada in 1843. The information I have on his brother MICHAEL NAUGHTON is that he married BRIDGET HYNES in 1832 in County Limerick. I have four children for this couple, although again there are probably more children: 1. MICHAEL b. 1835 married to BRIDGET ENRIGHT in 1832 2. BRIDGET b. 1836 married to WILLIAM EGAN in 1864 3. MARY ANN (aka. Ann) born 1845 married to PATRIC JOHN NOLAN (I am in contact with two of her great grand children) in 1865 4. HONORA b. unknown married to William Dempsey in 1868 Most of the information I have on the above family is from the two great grandchildren of Ann and Patric Nolan that I mentioned above; both live in England.
