    3. Getting back to the purpose of the original posting, I have Catholic ancestors in both counties Kerry and Limerick. Regional differences may have accounted for popularity of personal names, even within the same religion. The personal names of my various family members in Limerick include William and David, for instance, while in Kerry I have not found these names at all in my family lines - the most common male ones there were John, Daniel, Patrick, and Michael. >From sources such as Woulfe I understand that the Norman influence in Limerick may have added William and David to the mix while these names are less frequently seen in Kerry - West Kerry, at least. Not that the Norman influence was totally absent - Geoffrey and Maurice are not uncommon names.
