Hoping someone who knows for sure can help me out. I am under the impression that the Arch Diocese of Cashel and Emly is the only Arch Diocese in Ireland which will not authorize the release of micro-filmed records to the general public. I believe, however, that the Tipperary Heritage center has the authority to have access to those records, however they charge fees for doing searches. I was under the impression that these records have indeed been micro-filmed and are in the possession of the National Library (or whatever they call it) in Dublin. I hope someone can clarify this for me and others. Also, I do know, that, individual parish priests will do some searching, however, I don't think they can supply certified copies of records retained at their church. Hi Steve I remember this discussion being had on line back in 2005 just before I left for Ireland. I had e-mailed the NLI before leaving and got the reply as per the body of your e-mail. I then contacted the Tipperary Heritage Centre and they had the same answer. I tried to find the e-mail from them to give you a copy but as yet can't find it.
