Hi Kerry If its not too much trouble would you please see if there are any Carrig's or Langan's in your book? Thank you,Cris p.s Ihave a daughter named Kerrie...
Hi Cris There is no Langan or Carrig's but that is not to say that there were no families of such, as they may have attended another school like Clonleharde or Balligiltenane hedge school. These records are not from a book Cris and are from a private collection of records I have from some twenty-five years, or more of working with resources that myself and others have gathered around Glin, many of the records I put together were available from the Glin Heritage Centre. One day I was looking at old letters the Knight of Glin gave me from Thomas F Culhane to do something with to preserve them, this was the start of the first manuscript on "Home Thoughts from Abroad" then added to from other local writers. I am presently writing a book on many of the families that settle in Australia from Glin and Ballyhahill covering the first convicts from the district, beginning with the united Irishmen like Phillip Cunningham from Moyvane who was executed, Paddy Galvin and Thomas Langan who returned to Glin in 1816, he was blind by then. His father was John Langan, of Glenagragara Glin, and his mother Ellen Culhane. Sorry, enough rambling on if your line ties into Thomas Langan I do have many of his records and correspondence. Hi Kerry, I have a question on the Fitzgeralds. My gggggrandfather John Fitzgerald was an Attorney on either Ellen or Francis St in Limerick City. He and his wife Anne had three children, Maria Louisa 1803, John Coote 1807 and Henry 1810. I am trying to find out who John and Anns parents were. If I have the right marriage record and read the it right then Anne was also a Fitzgerald. They were married on 18 Jun 1802 St. John, Limerick, Limerick, Ireland. The only John Fitzgeralds that I can find in the Freemans records are both Knights of Glin. Do you have any suggestions on where to find out if the two John Fitzgeralds Knights of Glin are one in the same and if they are my John Fitzgerald and then who his parents might be based on the Knight of Glin records you are familiar with? Carla
Hello Kerry, Was very interested to read the post below. Further to that, would it be possible for you to check for HYNES family in your data? My GrGrandmother MARGARET HYNES arrived Sydney Jan 1855 on Ebba Brahe age 18, Nursemaid , from Whiskey Hall. Her parents Patrick and Honora were living at Whiskey Hall at the time. Resident in the colony was an Uncle Timothy Hynes at Campbelltown. She was a Monteagle immigrant. I have cancelled land records (1858-82) showing a PATRICK HYNES renting house and garden from John Blennerhassett at Kilmoylan. Also a in a Statement of the Townland of Finnoo (Whiskey Hall) in 1846. with Pat Hynes, Labourer Loghill and family of four. It would seem that Margaret had at least one other sibling. Perhaps there may be entries in school records. Thank you so much for your offers of help. Sincerely, Helen. > Hi Cris > > There is no Langan or Carrig's but that is not to say that there were no > families of such, as they may have attended another school like > Clonleharde > or Balligiltenane hedge school. > These records are not from a book Cris and are from a private collection > of > records I have from some twenty-five years, or more of working with > resources that myself and others have gathered around Glin, many of the > records I put together were available from the Glin Heritage Centre.
