    1. Re: [IRL-LIMERICK] General Question on Irish Wills
    2. Thanks Elaine and Viriginia too...I thought your idea was great and went scurrying back to read the will (yet again) and then...duh...it dawned on me that the wife is conspicuously ABSENT in the will; she is not mentioned at all (silly of me not to notice that I guess) but there ya go. I don't know if I dare assume she pre-deceased him or not but what other reason could there be? What is horribly frustrating is this will was transcribed in 1981 by a professional genealogist and he made no notation of where he obtained it and although this genealogist appears still to be living and working in Co Kildare, Ireland, he has not answered either my emails to him nor my snail mail so I'm left wondering if he totally made this will up! And I guess that brings me to my answer to Marie...I have no idea where you look for Irish will indexes--one would suppose in the local courthouses themselves just as we do here in the US. Any pointers, anyone? -------------- Original message from mattse165 <mattse165@paradise.net.nz>: -------------- I think the same as Virginia. My grandfather's will was not proven until after his wife died 10 years later Elaine NZ
