    1. Re: [IRL-LIMERICK] LDS & films
    2. I have viewed many LDS films for Catholic churches in the U.S....Illinois, New York, etc. Also, I will soon order the LDS films for the Catholic church in Rahoon Parish, Galway. I think, in the U.S., it may come down to the individual churches. We have three old churches our family used in one New York county; two of them were microfilmed by LDS and the third wass not (we have had absolutely no luck in dealing with that church personally!) In Illinois, there are vital records Indexes for Deaths as well as Marriages (up to 1900). However, Peoria County does not have their vital records on this Index (there are other Illinois counties who don't either). A couple of years ago, I checked the LDS for Catholic church records in Peoria...none listed. I have received old birth and death vital records by ordering them from Peoria. Also, since I knew specific dates, I was able to get the information on the baptisms by making inquiry to St. Mary's Church. All in all...family genealogists have a rough road to travel regarding civil records AND church records, whether it's in the U.S. or abroad. Kitty **************Ideas to please picky eaters. 3. Kitty, St. Joseph & St. Mary Catholic churchs in Peoria have been very cooperative in providing records for me. I just did a search for the name SMITH in the IL statewide marriage index for Peoria County at the Illinois State Archives website.....a bunch of Smith's turned up. The local IRAD (Illinois Regional Archives Depository) offices have statewide marriage records to 1904 for the cost of photo copies ($1.00 min.). Peoria County death index 1916 - 1950 is online at the Illinois State Archives website Peoria County death index 1871 - 1916 is not online. FYI, the online IL entries are done by volunteers. This is a work in progress as the site states. Records can be obtained at IL Department of Vital Records in Springfield or in any County Vital Records office. Hope this helps you and others in your research.
