Deborah, so very simple when you know the answer - lol! Very helpful to know. So if I run across a birth rec where there is an entry in the Civil Registration District as well as the Church Parish that appears to be a duplicate (same name/same date) Possible it might not be a duplicate but rather one the civil registration (required by law) and the other the corresponding church record--and obtaining both might yield different info as they recorded different things for each? For instance on Civil recs they sometimes give street addresses and occupations while that info is generally not part of the church record...is that right? Wondering how best to spend my 'research' bucks here...my desire to find my SHANAHANs is unlimited, alas my budget is not! Does anyone know what the R.D. stands for? Here in the US it would probably mean Rural Delivery but I've not a clue as to what it stands for in Ireland. Thanks!
