    1. [IRL-LIMERICK] Newspaper Article: SULLIVAN family Ann Street City of Limerick 1830
    2. >From The London Times, Wednesday, May 19, 1830; pg. 5; Issue 14230; col C "On Tuesday morning a dreadful scene took place in Ann street in this city (Limerick). A dog belonging to a very industrious man, of the name of Sullivan, got into a back yard of his house in the course of the night, and killed or mangled a quantity of poultry, evidently showing strong symptoms of madness. Poor Sullivan, observing this, made an effort to seize upon the dog, for the purpose of having him destroyed, when the infuriated animal seized his master by the arm, lacerating it in a dreadful manner, from the wrist up nearly to the shoulder. A daughter of Sullivan's, endeavoring to save her father, was next turned upon, and had the top of one of her fingers bitten off. By this time, the screams of the parties drew some people to the spot, when two men, in an attempt to extricate Sullivan, were bitten in their turn. An immense crowd then collected, and, after a desperate resistance, succeeded in killing the animal. We understand that the four sufferers have left town to apply to a Mr. Hodges, who is alleged to have a remedy against hydro- phobia, long known to be in the exclusive possession of his family. -- Irish Paper".
