My cousins and I think the name William had some special meaning to our Flood family. Matthew & Honora named their first son William and all but one of their other children also named their first son William. (That one named his first son after himself and his second son William.) We think perhaps the grandfather was named William or a brother of Matthew's named William became a priest or maybe died young. Does anyone know if there was a custom like that in Ireland that might help us figure it out? I only found one burial record for a William Flood on IFHF but I don't think he's related to our family as there were other William Floods baptized or married in that area. Thanks.
