    1. Re: [IRL-LIMERICK] Searching for O'Connor's from Limerick 1845aprox.
    2. Beryl, Bill: Wonder how many others have placed their O'CONNOR / CONNOR / CONNORS in the "too hard" basket? I too am guilty of this even though I do have a Townland & Parish. O'CONNOR / CONNOR / CONNORS I am looking for: Catherine, Daniel, Mary, Michael and Patrick - Originally from Civil Parish of Tuogh [RC Parish of Cappamore], Townlands of Dromsally (aka Dromsallagh, Drumsallaght) and Cappamore - Known to have immigrated to the USA (Massachusetts, Boston/Somerville area) sometime slightly before 1859 - Known to be cousins of Denis SHANAHAN (born City of Limerick c1830-1839)& Michael William SHANAHAN (born 1841 somewhere in Co Limerick). My only source of information for the above is an advertisement that my Denis SHANAHAN posted in 1859 in the newspaper the "Boston Pilot" looking for his O'CONNOR 'cousins'. It is unclear to me from the ad whether the 5 names he listed were all his 'cousins' or if two of them where his Aunt/Uncle and 3 of them his actual 'cousins' or all 5 were his cousins, etc. Despite diligent attempts to locate an O'CONNOR family in US census records in the Boston / Somerville area in 1860, I have failed to find any one O'CONNOR family that contained ALL 5 names together. Despite knowing the Townland, w/out some dates & w/out knowing the relationships between these 5 O'CONNORs how would one even start sorting all the O'CONNORS from those townlands out? If anyone on this list has some pointers to share on how to deal with such common surnames (especially paired w/ very common given names!) I'd be 'all ears'! Kathy Rhodes ------ Original message from "BILL BRADEN-BROWN" : ------ Hi Beryl, Many thanks for your input into my query into the O'Connor in Limerick, Thank you I will keep it in mind that Connor & Connors when searching for my O'Connor. Yes I also fear that I too will eventually put it in the "too hard basket." I also have very little to go upon and if I had just a parish it might make all the difference. Hi Bill Your search would need to include CONNORS and CONNOR as well, as in my experience they were interchangeable in Limerick. I put my CONNORS search in the "Too Hard" basket for now, and I have a parish. Cheers Beryl O'Gorman Greensborough Victoria Australia
