Hi I am researching my Husbands Family , they came from the Limerick area .The Family I'm looking for is Michael Godfrey , wife 's name unknown, he was a farmer . Michael would have been born around the 1790-1800's . They had a son James born in 1820 . James migrated to Australia about 1840-1844. He married Catherine Lowry on the 30 March 1856 at Saint Johns Roman Catholic West Maitland New South Wales. I found Godfrey names on the Oola Graveyard Inscriptions and was wondering if they may have lived in that area . If anyone could help I would appreciate it Barbara Godfrey Shortland Australia
Barbara If you go to www.failteromhat.com you can access extracts from Griffith's valuation 1848/64 which lists occupiers of houses and land. The Godfreys seem to be concentrated in the east of the county, around Doon and Oola.
