Mary Ellen, you are (I think) correct. The info about Bishop George Butler attending Trinity is incorrect.... See http://www.limerickdioceseheritage.org/Diocese/FormerBishops/GeorgeButler.htm where it says: "George Butler (1815-1886) Born in Limerick on February 13th 1815, he was educated at St Munchin's College, and ordained a priest from St Patrick's College, Maynooth on November 26th 1838." I have not yet determined if my LUBY line is Catholic or not (I think not!) And many of the known LUBY lines did attend Trinity (Thomas Clarke Luby of Fenian fame went there as did his father James Luby and his Uncle Thomas Luby). That John Looby (s/o William Looby) that Christina pulled is a new one on me - I shall have to explore his LOOBY line and see where it leads! (Thnx Christina!) I know when we were investigating entrance info for my youngest son, we did research on it's past history. I no longer have that file since he went to university in the mid 1980s. He stayed in the USA because jobs were scarce at that time in Ireland for young people. If this is correct than a man studying for the priesthood would have been in a seminary either in Ireland or on the continent. Trinity was definitely not a seminary for the Catholic church. Thank you. Sally
