    3. Hello Elaine If his marriage was in 1850 then he would probably have been too young, maybe 10 to 15, to be listed in the Guild lists of 1840. So I don't think it matters that he was not listed in the newspaper lists. To confirm that he was a bootmaker, you should probably try to obtain that marriage certificate. Civil Registration started generally in 1864 but the registration of non-Roman Catholic marriages actually started in 1845 so that certificate actually should exist. It could be ordered through a GRO but I believe those early certificates were also microfilmed by the LDS and could be obtained through your local Family History Centre. The Church of Ireland parish registers for Limerick (town) are also available through the FHL's so those various birth records may be found with some time spent looking through microfilm.
