If the implication of this post is that by my providing a transcription of the guild members for the city of Limerick as appeared in the 1840 newspaper article that I am somehow being redundant, I beg to differ. Yes, your ancestor may very well appear in this article AND appear as well in the trade directories that are maintained at the Limerick City Council's website. However, a simple examination of the trade directories at this site will NOT tell you whether or not your ancestor supported the REPEAL movement (and put his hard earned cash up to do so). Also, I have not yet begun to cross reference persons listed in this 1840 article with what is available in the trade directories for1840 at this web site, but odds are very good that some folks will be in the newspaper article who are NOT listed in the trade directories and vice versa, so I do not believe that the effort is superfluous.
