Hello Elaine, c1885 John Canty is mentioned as Call Steward on a sporting day (athletics) Late 1887 Jim Canty was one of the organisers of the Hospital G G A inaugural meeting (hurling & football). Officer appointed at the meeting was a J Canty Club Captain Edmond Canty is one of the subscribers to the Relief Committee Hospital-Knockainey spring 1846. Edmond Canty - dealer who went to farms all over Munster regarding cattle buying. Griffiths valuation. HOSPITAL PARISH Barry's Farm. Edmund Canty House & Garden TOWN OF HOSPITAL Immediate Lessor was John Canty to Thomas Casey & William Ryan John Canty did not appear to live in the Hospital Parish 1845 Agricultural Show John Canty was Chairman Limerick Co.Co. I have a photo in the book showing John Canty & Maurice Canty. There is mention in a will of William Bennett 1790 as a witness, Patrick Canty who was a servant to William's son Samuel Bennett Hope this helps.
