    2. Good Afternoon All! Can anyone advise if they have purchased any BURIAL records from the IFHR yet? I've found one that is sorely tempting me but I'm reluctant to 'splurge' without first knowing what sort of info the record is likely to contain. The record says that it is from Parish: LIMERICK NO 1 (and I'm assuming that is in the City of Limerick and probably does not designate a parish but rather a particular cemetery in the city) but I've been unable to figure this out just yet. Does anyone know? or has any one purchased a Burial rec yet? Thanks for your help! Kathy Rhodes

    3. I have looked at burial records from Westmeath and Limerick. The Limerick records were good with most things filled in. The Westmeath records had very little in them. The Limerick records were 1870 to 73. The Westmeath records were from 1827 -1845 and 1850. The cemetery was not mentioned on any of them but very little info on the early ones. I think it has more to do with after civil registration in 1864. After that more info was required. The forms are probably from after civil registration began and that info wasn't asked for before in church registers?????? Maybe I'm wrong?????? 3. I have seen pre 1864 burials referred to on IFHF site-some even for 18th century.I think that these may have been taken from headstone inscriptions noted by some of our local history societies..In general, however, the "burials" of IFHF appear to be post 1864 death registrations. These do not include the name of cemetery where deceased was buried. If one is trying to trace a burial the only source for Catholics is the record of the Municipal Mount St Lawrence cemetery in Limerick city-dates from c 1855 and includes all denominations. For members of the Church of Ireland there are more extensive records. In the 1800's practically all the cemeteries were property of that Church. While Catholics were buried in these no records kept except for C of I members. ----- Original Message ----- From: <littlehouseantiques@att.net> To: <irl-limerick@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 28, 2008 5:04 PM Subject: [IRL-LIMERICK] BURIAL records IHFH > Good Afternoon All! > > Can anyone advise if they have purchased any BURIAL records from the IFHR > yet? > I've found one that is sorely tempting me but I'm reluctant to 'splurge' > without first knowing what sort of info the record is likely to contain. > > The record says that it is from Parish: LIMERICK NO 1 (and I'm assuming > that is in the City of Limerick and probably does not designate a parish > but rather a particular cemetery in the city) but I've been unable to > figure this out just yet.
