Pat, I would say it is definitely possible. I have found ancestors moving quite often. One, a carpenter, appears to have following work, staying at one town or estate until he finished the job. He generally stayed in the same area, within about 20 miles. Another moved several times, apparently depending on where he could lease land. I think you may have hit paydirt, Good Luck -----Original Message----- From: Pat Connors <[email protected]> To: irl-limerick <[email protected]>; cotipperary <[email protected]> Sent: Mon, Feb 7, 2011 7:19 pm Subject: [IRL-LIMERICK] Knockainy Civil Parish, County Limerick Last week, I transcribed the tithe applotments for this civil parish which s located not far from the County Tipperary border. One of the names I ound was Bryan O'Connor living in Baggotstown, the same name as my gr gr gr randfather. The tithes were dated 1833. His son, Timothy, my gr gr randfather, was born ca 1810 so this could be my ancestor, however, imothy's death cert has him and his parents born in County Tipperary. lso, Timothy was married in Tipperary RC parish but that is also where his ife was born and raised and usually one did get married in the wife's hurch. To add to this, I have also found a Timothy Connors in 1851 cited for eaving an unharnessed cart while in Tipperary Town. The clerk (Petty essions Court) wrote his address as 'Garryspillane, Galbally Parish. While lose to Galbally Civil Parish, Garryspillane was actually located in allyscaddan Civil Parish which is also not far from County Tipperary or nockainy Civil Parish. Until I can see the RC records for the area, I don't know whether this is my ryan O'Connor or not but I have been doing these tithes for years now and ave never found a Bryan O'Connor/Connors before so this one really gets me ondering if this is mine. Looking at the Discovery Map for the area, it ooks like Baggotstown is about 6 or so miles from Emly in County ipperary. Timothy emigrated to Troy NY where his brother William lived. n Williams' gravestone, it says he was born in Emly RC Parish, County ipperary. In 2008, while I was in Dublin, I looked at the Emly RC Parish airly quickly due to time constraints. For the time period of my search or William and/or Timothy's births, there were gaps in the records, so not inding their baptisms was not conclusive. So this brings me to my questions. Is it possible, that they moved around nd didn't stay put in the area where they were born and raised? Did they ollow the work? Any opinions? I don't know if it is wishful thinking on my art but I have a strong feeling that this might just be the guy I have been ooking for and was wondering what others, familiar with the area thought. Thanks in advance for your opinions. - at Connors, Sacramento CA ttp://www.connorsgenealogy.com ------------------------------- o unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] ith the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of he message
