Dan, I finally found Hunt's Grove on maps. My half-inch map No. 18, from 1968, shows the settlement by name, as does the Townland Index map - of some unknown date. The current Discovery map 59 (Hunt's Grove is in N. Tipp, BTW) shows a group of about 7 buildings, a little over a mile SSW of the small town of Templederry, at about 945 676. But there is no name shown for the location. Hunts Grove is located in the townland of Gortnagowna, in Templederry civil parish. Did you see my message to Janet as to why I am looking (and the mystery I am trying to solve?) If not and you are interested I will shoot it to you. I saw it, Dan. It still appears to have been a house name and not a real village. As to your mystery, I just don't know what to think at the moment about it. One part could make sense if the woman asked him to use her surname to inherit. The rest is pretty muddy.
