Hi Jim, Yes it was so very sad. None of the families from Ireland that I am researching have anything to do with them. I just remember so vividly those little boys. They were ever so sweet. I just hope that my mother's kindness brought some happiness into their lives. Being Catholic we were asked by the local Priest to open our homes which is what many of us di did in Palmyra & East Fremantle and no doubt many other suburbs of Perth & Fremantle.. I have also discovered that many of them were also sent to New Zealand. The sites you have mentioned Jim will be of great help to many familis who are researching that subject.
