    3. Is anyone out there looking into a family (Mid 1700's) that has William Young as the father and Mary Cahill as the wife? They are a Limerick family living on John's Street. Church was St. Johns in Limerick. Both Mary and William had businesses on Mary's Street in Limerick. Thank you!.... Debbie

    3. Corrine Thank you for your response. The Registry of Deeds covers all of Ireland including rural and urban areas. The information in the memorials can be variable from something as simple as 'Bill Smith leased part of the townland of Whatever for 31 years at £5 per annum to John Smith'. Alternatively the memorial may give three generations of marriages with dates tracing ownership of the the lands involved for over a hundred years. Sometimes the ages of witnesses and or lives are given. The deeds may also mention current occupiers, previous occupiers, people living on adjacent land and detailed descriptions of the land. Many relationships are mentioned. Family members are often witnesses, lives and trustees. 1. [IRL-LIMERICK] John Gallagher, National Teacher, married Ann McNamara in 1850 in Knockainey, Limerick
    2. Jan Fortado
    3. I am looking for anyone who might be part of the following family: John Gallagher, National Teacher, who married Ann McNamara in Knockainy RC parish in 1850. They had the following children in Knockainy: Anthony in 1851, Michael in 1852, and Catherinein 1857. A John Gallagher and Ann McNamara had s son Thomas Gallagher who was baptized in 1855 in theRC parish of Glenroe and Ballyorgan, Limerick. John, at that time was a National Teacher in Glenroeand then in Ballyorgqan. Four years later in 1859, John and Ann had a daughter Helen who was baptized in the RC parish of Ballylanders, Limerick. From information on National Schools we know that John Gallagher went from Ballyorgan to Ballylanders soThomas and Helen are children of thesame John and Ann. I am trying to learn whether the John Gallagher who lived on the groundsof a National School in Knockainey at the time of Griffith's is the same John Gallagher whowas a teacher in Ballyorgan and in Ballylanders. There is no book available on the historyof Knockainey schools so I can't be sure it is the same John Gallagher. I am wondering if someone in this extended family might be doing research.

    3. Another excellent book is Landlords, Tenants, Famine by Desmond Norton. In this book, I read when my gr gr grndfthr was deposed of his farm by Stewart & Kincaid, who had been assigned to take over the Ballinruane Estate on the lands of Sergeant Warren in 1846-49. It also named his brother and neighbors. Still today there are some families living in the area.

    3. Hi Beryl, your name is familiar to me but i am not sure if we have been in contact before. Are you on Genes Reunited. That may be where i have seen your name. I too feel that if i can get my great grandfathers siblings and mothers name and go back even more there is bound to be a Bridgeman/Bridgman connection. I get so frustrated at times but i am like a dog with a bone and keep researching and look all over the place. I hope to be able to get enough money together so i can one day get back to Ireland and follow up on more research but in the meantime with thanks to the internet i might find something one day. I am currently half way thru the Mount St Lawrence Burial records and have come across a few Bridgemans and Bridgmans. The interesting thing is that some that are buried in the same plot have the differing name spelling. Michael and his family seemed to have moved around abit and they had property in Whiskey Hall and Ballyhahill. Knocknabooly was also mentioned. Hope we can come up with a connection sometime soon and keep in touch cheers donna On 6 September 2012 01:38, Beryl O'Gorman <bezbri@optusnet.com.au> wrote: > Hi Donna > I too have Bridgmans from the Shanagolden area. 3. Hi there, I have just joined this list and am researching my fathers fathers side of the family amongst many other lines. My grandfather was James BRIDGEMAN b 1895 Finoe, Shanagolden, Limerick. He was one of five children to Michael BRIDGMAN and Anastatia AMBROSE who were married 26 Jan 1889 at Newcastle, Co Limerick. Michael's father was Patrick BRIDGMAN. Amongst the many questions i have is who was Michael's mother and Patrick's wife -- donna from the land of the long white cloud (Aotearoa - New Zealand) Ahakoa he iti he pounamu (Even though it is little it is precious)

    3. Hi Diane and thank you for your interest. I'm not so sure that I have hit paydirt. My gg grandfather John Lynch stated on his army record that he was born Kilrush, Co Clare. I have not been able to find his mother's name or any siblings and I was just clutching at straws in thinking that perhaps he really was from Limerick when a lister found a Lynch/McGrath connection. I don't even know if his mother's maiden name was McGrath. It is so confusing when each generation uses the same Christian names but then as you pointed out it can also be a help but with Patrick, Michael and John being such common names in Ireland it is very difficult to know which Lynch family could be mine although as I said at this time I think he was telling the truth about being born in Kilrush, Co Clare. Thank you again for your help and I will keep your email just in case it turns out to be related. Cheers Joan in NSW, Australia -----Original Message----- From: irl-limerick-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-limerick-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of diane lavazza Hi Joan,   I think you may have it paydirt!!!   My GGrandfather was Thomas Lynch born Jun 1816 in St. Michaels, Limerick.  His parents were John Lynch and Margaret Browne.  He did have a brother John but not sure of the date of birth. He also had a brother Patrick, dob not known.    Margaret's parents were Thomas Browne and Johanna Flannery.  Margaret had a sister Jane who married Thomas McGrath and the had a daughter Margaret McGrath born June 18,1795 in St. Michaels, Limerick.  Perhaps Jane and Margaret had a sister Bridget who married a Lynch also.  Very confusing but it does look like the lines may be connected.  Siblings used the same family names and John would have been used by both Thomas and Patrick for their first sons.  If you have any other info, let me know and I can check it out.  My GGGrandfather had a daughter Catherine who married a John Sullivan.  When I was looking for her marriage certificate, I came across another Catherine who married a Sullivan and her father's first name was Patrick.  I have always wondered if I had the right father.  Seems like I need to investigate a little further.  Hope this helps a little.   Warm Regards, Diane, USA From: Joan Birtles <joanbirtles@bigpond.com> To: irl-limerick@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, September 3, 2012 2:54 AM Subject: [IRL-LIMERICK] John & Patrick Lynch in Victoria Australia Hello Today I received a death record of a John Lynch, labourer age 40 who died at Ramsdene St Collingwood 22nd March 1866.  His parents were shown as Patrick LYNCH a farmer and Bridget LYNCH formerly McGRATH.      The informant on the death record was his brother Patrick Lynch of Nelson St Williamstown who stated John was from Limerick, Ireland and had been in Victoria about 15 years and was unmarried.    There was an inquest into his death 23rd March 1866[Rupture of liver and extravasation?  of blood]. I know my John Lynch's father's name was Patrick but have no idea of his mother's name or any siblings so was hoping this record may shed some light on my missing gg grandfather John Lynch. I don't feel he is my John Lynch as mine was born in Kilrush Co Clare in 1827 according to his army record and came to NSW in 1853 on the "William Prowse" from India, with his wife and infant daughter and had another daughter in 1859 in Sydney.  His wife remarried in 1865 so I presume he had died between 1859 and 1865 but no death record can be found for him in NSW. He was in trouble with the law in NSW and spent time in gaol 1853-1855 that I know of. If anyone has a missing Patrick & John Lynch b abt 1826 with parents Patrick & Bridget nee McGrath in Limerick, I would be delighted to hear from them. 3. Bonnie,   Do you have any other info on the family, such as first names and birth dates?  People did move around a bit, especially if they rented rather than owned.   Diane From: Bonita Spall <spall@rogers.com> To: "irl-limerick@rootsweb.com" <irl-limerick@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, September 4, 2012 3:34 PM Subject: Re: [IRL-LIMERICK] O'Sullivan/Sullivan Does anyone have Sullivan family in Herbertstown Co.
