Welcome to the list. My first thought is have you researched all the other members of the family to see if that will add any more information about where they came from ? Have you looked at all the headstones to see if they mention place of origin ? Also what was the names of their houses/properties ? Do you have the death certificates or Social Security information. Have you found all their naturalisation papers ? That will keep you going for awhile. Have you researched Griffiths Valuation for Co Limerick ? Where is WI ? Have you looked at the Irish Family History site for Limerick ? Is NORMYLE a surname and if so should be in uppercase for this very reason. If this is a surname then I would have to start my thinking again. Please get back to me if I can be of more help. Regards from Valerie in sunny Sydney. Hello, I just joined your list and have a question. Part of my husband's family came from County Limerick. I know this through their obituaries. But, I don't have a location other than that. Does any have any hints how I can start searching for them in Ireland? Their surnames are rather common and I can tell you the little bit of information I do have: Patrick O'Brien, b. circa 1829. Came to New York around 1851, married Mary Fitzgibbons (see below) on 26 Nov 1857 in Troy, NY and then moved to Fond du Lac, WI in Aug 1858. Have all other information once in WI. Mary Fitzgibbon(s), b. 5 May 1830. Left Ireland (via Liverpool) in 1850 and arrived in New York on 3 Jul 1850 in the company of her mother Margaret Normle/Normyle/Normoyle, sister Elizabeth, and brothers John, Garrett, and Thomas. Her father Thomas Fitzgibbon(s) had died a few years before they left. Without a townland or parish to go on is there any hope for finding them? Thanks. Hi Kerry, I would very much appreciate if you could check for Rowan (Rohan, Roughan, etc) and Costelloe. I don't dare to hope they will be mentioned, but, as always, I am "grasping at straws". My Rowan family seems to have "evaporated"...maybe an alien ship!! Thank you Kitty **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. Hi Kerry, I think this might be a connection. Mary Scanlon's father was John Scanlon. She married John (Mc)Kearney, but up until now I did not know where. This could possibly be her father and further indicate that Mary Scanlon married John (Mc) Kearney in the Glin area. Thank you very much. Hi Chris I have a Patrick Blaney born abt 1805 Ireland, son of Daniel and Mary 'Margaret' Kilduff who married Mary Langan in Ireland bef 1830. Mary Langan was born 1801-1811. There first child was born November 27, 1830 in Canada. I'm assuming that the couple emigrated shortly after their marriage thus married shortly before 1830. Unfortunately I have no clue where the Blaneys or Langans were from. Since you have been researching the Langan Clan I was wondering where one would find the highest concentration of Langans. Any chance you might have come across my couple? Hi Cris, I have had a look for your Maurice Langan and the only one I could find was in the Parish of Kilmoylan - Townland - Glebaun, now this is 55 miles from Askeaton, so that made me think again, so I had another look for Kennelly and there was a Matthew Kennally in Askeaton - Townland - Cloonreask and strangely there is a family of Mangans in Askeaton - Cloonreask, I know this is not the name you are searching, but stranger things have happened.
