Finally found the information from my husband's Scanlan family Bible I've been looking for since first seeing Patrick Enright's posting that included both Enright and Higgins names. Our Scanlans emigrated from Castlemahon/Mahoonagh about 1848-50 via Boston ultimately to Chicago. Per Bible entry, Edward SCANLAN married Ann HIGGINS (Latully, County Cavan) on March 23, 1853, in Roxbury, Mass. Witnesses were John ENRIGHT and Hannah MCENERY. Hoping Patrick might see some connection? (Ann Higgins had sister in Boston area, Catherine, who married a Hugh MCKENNA). John and list-members, Thank you for all you have done for this list. Thanks too for your welcome and the good wishes expressed by list members. :) For those of you who have never seen my name, I am list admin for IRL-Tipperary and IRL-Longford. Also MI-Irish. I have websites for those counties as well as the new IGP Archives. I thought I would tell you about my list admin preferences upfront. My style is (I think) moderate. I believe the list admin should be the one to comment if something is amiss. So, if you don't like something you see - please email me about it and let me handle it. That's why I am here. Please don't send "unsubscribe" messages to the list. That doesn't help. Unsubscribe info is always at the bottom of your list mails. If you are having a problem with your mailings or just need to contact me - you can send me email at: IRL-LIMERICK-admin@rootsweb.com or you are welcome to use my personal email. Dates in parish records are dates of baptism.Generally this would have taken place within a week or two of birth.People sometimes tended to be vague re actual dob.We have no way of knowing dob for pre 1864 births.I have come across anomalies in some post 1864 records ,where child's date of baptism came before stated dob on birth cert. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bonita Evjen" <bevjen@bevcomm.net> To: <IRL-LIMERICK@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 29, 2008 1:52 PM Subject: [IRL-LIMERICK] parish registers > > I need to clarify.
