    1. [IRL-LIMERICK] Limerick Links being added automatically to each post
    2. Christina, Think the links are likely helpful but wonder (since folks don't always remember to edit them out when they reply to posts) and then you end up w/ the links from the original post AND also on the reply as well if it is not making it a real pain in the patooty for the folks who read through the Digest version? Also, since these automatically "attached" links will be going into every single post and reply (and thus into the archives) isn't that going to make searching the archives sort of difficult...giving you strange 'hits' that don't really pertain to what one is searching for? Just my 2 cents! Kathy ----- Original message from Christina Hunt <filidh@carolina.rr.com>: ----- I added those to the list to aid people. If they get boring, I can pull them. 3. I am very glad that you had such great sucess Kitty. I have heard of many people who found someone of the same name - but wrong person when they looked. A few hints. If you know the area but have done a search just on a name, try using the drop down box to test the name against the various places. In that way you may be able to narrow down your person. With marriages, if you know the husband and wife, check for year matches and again place matches to avoid spending 10 euros for a failed search. I admit, most of mine failed and the correct hits did not have the parents. Not all church records gave parents in a wedding. <sigh> But that said, it is certainly an improvement. Christina | Two days before Christmas, the Clare Mailing List had an e-mail | reference BMD records that could be researched through the Irish | Family History Foundation. I went to that site and within 20 | minutes I found the West Galway birth of my great uncle (1844) and | the marriage of my gr grandparents...and the previously unknown | Parish and townland!! I found several other family records, as | well. The cost was 10 Euro each. Yes...I "viewed several", at 10 | Euro each, that were not mine. My luck ran out and I stopped. |

    2. Two days before Christmas, the Clare Mailing List had an e-mail reference BMD records that could be researched through the Irish Family History Foundation. I went to that site and within 20 minutes I found the West Galway birth of my great uncle (1844) and the marriage of my gr grandparents...and the previously unknown Parish and townland!! I found several other family records, as well. The cost was 10 Euro each. Yes...I "viewed several", at 10 Euro each, that were not mine. My luck ran out and I stopped. A little background: over a year ago, on IrishGenealogy, I got a "hit" on the birth/baptism of a Denis Rohan, 1844, Limerick; IrishGenealogy showed I could get the record from LimerickGenealogy. My letter to LimerickGenealogy and their reply to me has been discussed before on this List. Bottom line, I never ordered the record from LimerickGenealogy. Yesterday, I rec'd an e-mail from the Irish Family History Foundation that 1 million BMD records of LimerickGenealogy had been added to their site. I went to that site...plugged in Denis Rohan, 1844, Limerick...paid the 10 Euro to "view". Voila...there he was, with the parents I had hoped for. Certainly, at 10 Euro each, it is not "one stop shopping" for every person on your Limerick tree. But, sometimes, even one record can help. Note: If I had ordered it through LimerickGenealogy, a year ago, the cost would have been 30 Euro. I am very grateful that LimerickGenealogy has allowed their BMD records to be put on the Irish Family History Foundation site. Incidentally, the record showed: Denis Rohan was baptized on March 22, 1844, son of Timothy Rohan and Margaret Casey...St. Patrick's Parish. Unfortunately, the line that usually has the townland shows a question mark. It's a "small chink" in my wall, but I'm happy with any tiny piece of information I can get. 3. Hi Patricia, Thank you for letting me know! There is a good possibility that Timothy Kearney could be the brother of my 3x great grandfather John Kearney. 2. Debbie Fall
    3. Just received a message that Irish Family History Foundation Research Online is available with Limerick information. I am interested in the Omalleys (or its variants) for the time of 1803-1855. Births/deaths/Marriages for Thomas who married Mary Noonan and also sons Patrick, Michael and Thomas O'Malley. If anyone orders information on these names I would be grateful for any information you might receive. I am not sure it is my family so hate to pay for information that is not pertinent. We have very little information on this family. What records we do have says family from Clare, Galway and Tipperary. I have a baptism for their son Edmond in Mountshannon and this is the ONLY documented information I have. Thanks to all and I wish you the best in your searches! Debbie from Indiana
