Hi Kathy, My 3x Great grandfather ended up in Saint John NB in 1842, then went to Sidney Maine in 1843 and finally settled in Yarmouth Maine in 1847. I am the 6th generation to live in his that he built in Yarmouth Maine. According to his declaration of Citizenship from 1847, he was born in Glin in 1819. I think 1819 is made up. I think he was born in 1806 because in all the census records I have found, they say he was born in 1806 and his head stone says he was born in 1806. Where did your Kearney come from in Limerick? When was he born? I should mention that I found a John and Mary Kearney living in Annan Dumfries Scotland in 1841 with a child James who was 4 months old. John and Mary had the same birth years as my John Kearney(1806) and Mary Scanlon(1816). I cannot find the family anywhere else. So they may have immigrated from Scotland. The dates match my John Kearney. If he did in fact arrive in Saint John NB in 1842, he very well could have left from Scotland or Liverpool England. I have to do more research on Irish immigration from Ireland to Scotland and then to Canada or America. Would love to trade notes, keep in touch! Thanks for asking about my family. just curious, when is Father's Day in Ireland? I didnt know Mother's day was a different day than in the U.S., guess I never thought about it.
My Sullivans are from Loughill parish. They seem to have a close connection to an O'Connor family once they arrived in Lanark Co, Canada but I haven't found any direct relationship yet. I believe my James Sullivan had a brother Michael who came to Canada about 1830 but I don't know what happened to him. In addition, there is a brother, Timothy, whose family disappeared between 1846- 1852. They may have gone to Australia. I just used that site yesterday; I did get an 1844 baptism. I also used IFHF a lot back in December for their West Galway records (had GREAT success with my Galway family). Hi Chris Sorry for taking so long getting back to you. I was away from home so didn't have access to my computer. I am presently wintering in Florida so the only notes I have is what I have entered into my Family Tree program. All others notes are back in Canada. My Langan connection is Mary Langan spouse of Patrick Blaney. They apparently married in Ireland before immigrating to Canada. One of Patrick's siblings married a Mary Ann McCourt also prior to immigrating, the marriage taking place in Westmeath. I have absolutely no idea where the Blaneys or Langans were from in Ireland. Since one of the Blaney marriages took place in Westmeath, Westmeath is a possibility. I have tried to connect the other two Langans below as Ann married to Patrick Dooley was living in the same area as Patrick and Mary. They are of the same age and married about the same time. Similarly I have tried to connect with Daniel Langan and Bridget Cummins as Daniel was born in Westmeath. Unfortunately I have not been able to tie them together. I was hoping to find records, bms, where Ann or Mary appeared as a godparents or sponsor connecting the two families but to no avail. You mentioned that your Langan (Carrig) married in Canada, any idea where? Descendants of Patrick Blaney 1.
