    3. HI, Yes, there is that possiblity. I know the people that I have looked at have come from Denmark, Germany, Italy. Some were only there for just a couple of years before they passed away. 1. Re: [IRL-LIMERICK] IFHS info?
    2. Jan, 4 Baptism Records from Co Limerick that I purchased had a standardized form with the following fields: Name, Address, Gender, Date of Baptism/Birth Parish/District, County, Denomination, Mother, Mother's Occupation, Father, Father's Occupation Sponsor/Informant 1, Sponsor/Informant 2, NOTES Not all the info is filled in--none of the 4 I purchased had either address or occupation of parents nor any notes. Regarding burial records/cemeteries in Croom area I **think** that there are 4 of them: Religh Mhuire (a modern cemetery started mid 1960s) Banogue Cemetery (opened 1955; across the road from church; pre 1955 local people were buried in cemeteries in either the parishes of Croom or Ballingarry/Granagh) Church of Ireland cemetery on Church Rd in Croom (has both Cath. & Prot. burials) Anhid Cemetery (Ballingarry Road in Croom close to the main Cork-Limerick Road) References: http://www.limerickdioceseheritage.org/Croom.htm http://www.limerickdioceseheritage.org/Banogue.htm http://www.croomabu.ie/exponent/index.php?section=1 (pics of churches in Croom) http://www.ballyhouracountry.com/bhtowns.asp?town=Croom&bhl1=Tourism Searched but couldn't find any online transcripts for any of these cemeteries; here in the states there is a lot of cemetery transcriptions being done (local folks go and snap digital photos and upload them to various sites) but there does not appear to be a whole lot of that sort of thing going on in Ireland. Sure wish more folks who made reseach trips to Ireland would "document" local cemeteries w/ their digital cameras and post the results! 1. [IRL-LIMERICK] information extracted from IFHF records
    2. Jan Fortado
    3. Through the years I have ordered records from the Mallow Heritage Center. I have found that they have copied all available information, although there have been occasional misspellings of names. Most of the parishes I am interested in did not record the names of the parents for Baptisms, only sponsors. Some priests recorded the townland, but then there were many periods of time when another priest came to the parish and did not record the townland. This was in answer to the question about whether the records ordered from the IFHF would have all available information. Jan

    1. Re: [IRL-LIMERICK] IFHS info vs actual church record (which I have)
    2. I purchased quite a few, back in December, for my family in Galway. Although I was beside myself to have found the parish and townland, as well as the marriage of my gr grandparents with the consequent baptisms of two children, I had hoped that ALL the fields would have information filled in. I was a bit disappointed when IFHF showed only the surnames of the fathers of the bride and groom. Since then, I have been in contact with a nun who is the archivist for the catholic church my family used back then. Sister was kind enough to send me a copy of the marriage (1844) and two baptisms (1844 and 1846). The information on the IFHF record was EXACTLY what was on the actual church record. Actual Marriage record had date, parish, townland, grooms name, brides name, witnesses' names. There were no names for the parents of the bride and groom at all. The actual Baptism record has date, child's name, parents' name, sponsors' name, parish, townland. Kitty **************Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Watch the video on AOL Home. 3. I came across the term "parlour bride" in a context which suggests it might be an Irish expression. Does anyone know what it means? Thanks Margaret

    3. Catholics were first banned by the British during the time when the Catholic Church was outlawed , however after the College allowed Catholics to attend the Catholic church banned them. When I was teaching at Trinity there was a poem about it, I'll see if I can find it Albert Message: 5 Date: Fri, 21 Mar 2008 10:14:50 -0000 From: "Sean Sheehan" <seancastle14@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [IRL-LIMERICK] (BUTLER)/Trinity College Dublin To: <irl-limerick@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <002701c88b3c$68db4bc0$3a91e340$@com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Catholics were banned from attending Trinity right up to the mid 1900s, but I am not sure who actually imposed the ban, the Catholic Church the College or both, or when the ban began Sean No virus found in this outgoing message. 3. Trinity College was founded in Elizabethan times, 16th century. Although there were noble families who were Catholic, most were probably "closet" Catholic. Thus, the reason for "priest" holes in many homes. Because of those times, Catholics were persecuted and denied entrance. This was very near the era when the "Penal" Laws were enacted.
