In 1852 the Common Council of NYC passed a law prohibiting any more burials in Brooklyn/Manhattan--so based on the date of death this person is likely buried in the QUEENS portion of this cemetery. Most of the burials in the Brooklyn/Manhattan portion of the cemetery were of poor Irish children under the age of 7. The very first Shanahan in my family line to be born on USA soil [Patrick Joseph Shanahan 17 Mar 1862-16 Aug 1862] is buried in the Queens portion of the cemetery.

    3. Hi ho! Hi Ho! Off to Ireland cyberspace I did go. I spent a penny and found so many but alas nought was mine. I couldn't resist going to peek, explore and see if I could find the elusive Kennedy O'Brien and his misses Catherine Hayes on their wedding day. Tweren't no good BUT hey, I sure did enjoy the journey and now my husband won't have to buy me a birthday present because I just paid for it myself, lol. It's full title is: Recollections of our Native Valley: A History of the Parish Loughill-Ballyhahill and the Owvaun Valley, by Gerard Curtin, Published by the Loughill- Ballyhahill Heritage Society, 1996, vi, 408 p. ISBN 0-9528263-0-5. I am thinking this book is out of print...is there anyone who has a copy that would be willing to do a look up for me? And if not, where might I find a copy?
