    3. This may be my first posting to this list. certainly the first for a long time, I have very little information but this is what I have managed to piece together. My gg grandfather was David Sheehan, born circa 1825 in Ireland. My gg grandmother Catherine Gorman was born 1823 also in Ireland. According to the 1861 census of Poplar all 5 of their children were born in Middlesex, but none of the births seem to have been registered.Catherine died in 1885, but David lasted until 1898 so I got a clue from the 1891 census, which states that he was born in Limerick. So now I need to try and track a marriage between 1843( when David would have been 18) and 1852 when their oldest daughter was born. I did a search on FreeBMD today and am sure they didn't marry in Britain. The family was Roman Catholic, any clues would be appreciated Regards Joe Austen in OZ

    3. I’ve been trying to piece together some of my heritage based on vague records from my father Doran Hughes. All dates and ages care approximate at best so there will be plenty of flexibility in researching. Kate Macterlagh I think lived some 160 years ago and was from the Limerick area. She was married to Bryan O’Doran from County Cork. I do not have any info on death dates or places. I only know that their son, Dan Doran lived in Canada with his wife Margaret Foley having at some point had a son John Doran who also lived in Canada with his wife Theresa O’Rielly. I know cthese are very vague bits of info but if anyone can guide me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. Thank You, Howard D. 3. Thank you, Jack. I should have added, that at this time, I am only interested in these specific counties in Ireland. Also, I encourage anyone who hasn't taken advantage of DNA testing for genealogy that FamilyTree DNA is having their annual promotional sale right now through Dec. 31st. Prices are very low. Family lore stated that our Grahams had come from Scotland and were descended from the famous Grahams there. However, I saw on a census record that my ggg-grandfather had said he was born in Ireland (or was of Irish descent). Years later DNA analysis showed we had a DNA 'signature' common to people from these counties, especially Hogans and O' Briens. This DNA signature is commonly known as Irish Haplogroup Type III. I would never have known this without the test. 3. I just saw that Family Search has added Ireland Tithe Applotments to their List of Projects. Something Irish researchers might want to help with. http://indexing.familysearch.org/projects/viewProject.jsf?url=Ireland-TitheApplotmentBooks1824-1840/ProjectHelp1.html People named in Tithe Applotments are going to be rural, not City dwellers. We have some "TABs" on the Tipperary site done by Mary Heaphy http://www.igp-web.com/tipperary/cens_subs.htm and I believe Pat Connors has done quite a few. But, leaving aside that some are online, I am glad to see more being added for Ireland. Christina
