Dear Marie Please see if there is any reference to Ann McCoy, John McCoy, Catherine and Margaret McCoy. I would really appreciate it as I am getting kind of desperate. There is a Capt Graeme. His men suffered a severe reverse early in Sept. of 1600. The Sugan Earl who defeated Graeme at Knocksouns in 1600 was to suffer serious defeat at the hand os Graeme later that month at Aherlow. It don't mention who his Father was.\ Marie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Beall" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 30, 2011 7:31 PM Subject: Re: [IRL-LIMERICK] look-ups > > Would there happen to be a Jesse Graham/Grehan/Graeme b. ca. 1760 in > there? Some time back I had a lot of helpful friends on this list looking around to discern a place name for me. Well after spending heaps on Ireland's BDM search and certificate site I have found the three children. Now I am wondering if anyone can guide me to find the marriage of their parents? Here is information I have to date: In order of Birth Mary O'Brien born about 29 March 1831, in Murroe & Boher Parish/District. Parents: Kennedy O'Brien and Catherine Hayes. Religion: Roman Catholic. Thomas O'Brien born about 5 September 1833 in Murroe & Boher Parish District. Parents Kennedy O'Brien and Catherine Hayes. Religion: Roman Catholic Catherine Brien born about 11Oct 1836, in Murroe & Boher Parish/District. Parents Kennedy Brien and Kitty Hayes. Religion: Roman Catholic. Then I went looking for parents marriage. It was like putting money into a slot machine for I had no luck whatsoever. My discovering the children all born at least 8-10yrs earlier than any dates here in Australia indicated I did the same with parents marriage bearing in mind my three Australian members may have been the youngest of a large family tribe. I even tried for more children but drew a blank without knowing specific names. Then I hazarded a hunt for father's death as his name Kennedy was more unusual than Kitty or Catherine O'Brien. As the youngest, my ancestor Catherine came out and was married in 1865 I looked around same date and hit what I am hoping is gold. I suspected that she may have been the one to care for parents in their old age and once they were gone she joined her older siblings in Victoria, Australia and may have had to be younger than her age to get passage as an eligible single woman. Civil Death Record for Kennedy O'Brien 72 Years and died on 1 March 1864 at Ggorteenaskagh, Grange, in Parish/District of Caherconlish, County Limerick. Status: Married. Occupation Labourer. Male. No graveyard details Informant was Martin Walsh Relationship: Servant Address: As Above. Notes state: Dropsy. Gorteenaskagh was my link for on Mary's Death certificate it had that she had been born in Gortneeskagh, County Moher, Limerick. The misspelling had everyone confused and now I realize that it may have not been a town name but rather a property name but I couldn't find anything more than a Limerick council listing for land owners of that name but no revealing details. I can find NO marriage for Kennedy Obrien within a 14year time frame of 1831 and there are far too many for Catherine Hayes to even hazard a guess (but I tried) for correct listing. I have changed the dates in my FTM but no new green leaves pop up so I back here for some hints please. Thanks for your previous help and I am crossing my fingers that now the kids have come out of hiding the parents will too. Suzanne
Gorteenavskagh or Gorteennaskagh in Caherconlish civil? parish, or now in Caherconlish RC parish Caherconlish was once a barony and became a parish; Part went to Murroe parish (50 dwellings), and Cahrelly, Ludden, Carrigparson and a portion of Inch St. Laurence went to Ballybricken. In 1840, Caherline & Caherconlish (Inch St. Laurence) consisted of Caherline: Baskethill, Boskhill, Ballyhudane, Ballybrood, Ballyhobin, Ballyvoumeen, Ballyadam, Castle-Erkin, Dunvullen, Greenane, Gortnacaha, Gragane, Garryduff, Gortbrien, Gortmuic, Lombardstown, Moigh, Tantore, Wood. Inch St. Laurence was detached from Ballybricken and attached to Caherconlish, and a small area of Caherconlish was transferred to Boher in Murroe parish, and a small portion of Caherconlish was attached to Ballybricken. Part of Cahirconlish, or all, once also belonged to Bohermore parish Boher RC parish, not "Moher": Now Murroe and Boher; in the Baronies of Owneybeg and Clanwilliam in Co. Limerick; Murroe & Boher were once united in the old parish of Abbeyowney (Abington) and Clonkeen and later Boher was detached and given to Caherconlish and then even later reunited - Ballyart, Brittas, Boher, Bohergar, Cloughnadromin, Eyon, Grange, "Gurteenaskaugh", Kishiquirk, Knockanee, Killinure (Killeen in it), Kilronan, Lismullane, Molug, Sandylane, Tubber-Molug. An Irish Family Tradition Paddy, had long heard the stories of an amazing family tradition. It seems that his father, grandfather and great-grandfather had all been able to walk on water on their 18th birthday. On that special day, they'd each walked across the lake to the pub on the far side for their first legal drink. So when Paddy's, 18th birthday came 'round, he and his pal Mick, took a boat out to the middle of the lake, Paddy, stepped out of the boat ...and nearly drowned! Mick just barely managed to pull him to safety. Furious and confused, Paddy, went to see his grandmother. 'Grandma,' he asked, "It's my 18th birthday, so why can't I walk 'cross the lake like my father, his father, and his father before him?" Granny looked deeply into Paddy's, troubled green eyes and said, "Because your father, your grandfather and your great grandfather were all born in December, when the lake is frozen, and ye were born in August. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this message. Hi all, I am very sorry about those spam emails posting to the list looking like they came from me. They didn't! When I was on Facebook, my Address Book was hijacked and every few months the spammer sends out emails looking like they came from me. If by chance it happens again, check the bottom of the email and see if my signature is on it: Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com This is automatically attached by my computer whenever I send out an email. That is how I have set up my various email programs. Yesterday, I spent most of my day, unsubscribing from all the list using my pacbell email address (nymets11) and resubbing with my gmail email address (nymets22). You can reach me at both. I am still using the pacbell mail but did not want to have anymore of those spam emails going to the lists. Again, I am very sorry about any trouble this may have caused you. If you have any questions, you can email me off the list. Oh, forgot something, I would have unsubbed from the lists after the first posting in April 2010 but didn't realize they would keep doing it. Seems like they wait about six months and then send out the spam again. Also, note how sneaky they are getting. When these first (not just those with my address but all the ones we have seen posted to the various lists) started coming, they had no subject and the various spam filters, including Rootswebs, stopped posting messages without subjects, well, they they are adding subject to get around the filters. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
