    3. Marianne: I am excited to hear from you as we have searched for many years for more information about this family. My great great grandmother, Bridget Cusick Guthrie, was the wife of Patrick Guthrie. They were married May 22, 1816 in Ireland. I have not been able to find the exact site of their marriage. They were the parents of nine children, one of whom (Patrick #1) died at the age of 23 days. Son William died at age three "probably in Kilshanney, Parish of Ennistymon, Co. Clare, Ireland." Patrick Guthrie, the father, died May 26, 1849 in Limerick. According to our information from Ellen Guthrie, written about 1914, "Bridget Cusick had five sisters. Aunt Ann never married but lived with our Uncle Henry Guthrie until her death in our home in Elkhart, Iowa, where she was visiting. I do not know the date. The other sisters married -respectively -O'Connor, Burke, Carrol, and McNamara. Think all remained in Ireland......." Nellie This family came to the United States from Ireland at various times and most seem to have gone to the vicinity of Byron, Ogle County, Illinois before going on to Iowa and joining other family members in the vicinity of Polk County. It appears that Bridget Cusick Guthrie and her youngest child, James Joseph Guthrie, left Ireland in about 1855. Do you see any connections or possibilities? Certainly hope so. 3. In 1848 a National School was established in Killacolla. The teacher was Daniel Cusack and his affistant was John Cusack. Catherine was the principal and Eliza was an assistant teacher. In 1860 Catherine Cusack was teaching in the school. She was paid 26pounds a year. Hope this helps. Marie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy I. 3. Susan MacAuliffe was a native of Ballyagran, she married Patrick Collins from Tournafulla. Madge MacAuliffe was present at a meeting on July 1907.The purpose of the meeting was to found a branch of the Gaelic League in Bruree. Maurice MacAuliffe was known as the Dancing Master. If a student failed to reach the standard Maurice had set, they felt the tongue of Maurice.
