    3. Seeking location in Leitrim for six Leitrim men -- all tried 6 March 1846 -- transported to Tasmania for "appearing armed and unlawful assembly". Might have been "MOLLY MAGUIRES". McAweeney and Leddy charged with "compelling to quit, McPartlan(d) and Macguire with "stealing a gun from Wm Thompson" and the Reynolds brothers with "appearing armed unlawfully". All described as labourers or farm labourers. These offences might have been committed in same or different locations. I need to know where the offences occurred and, ideally, why, also birthplaces. Years of birth given below are approximate. McAWEENEY or McQUEENEY, Michael (1824-1883 Tas) mother Mary; brothers John, Patrick, Timothy & Francis; sister Rosa. Could read only. LEDDY or LIDDY, John (1824-1877 Tas) mother Anna; brothers James, Barney, Bartley & Farrel; sisters Rose, Winifred & Mary. Could read only. McPARTLAN(D)**, Francis (1823-1888 Tas) brothers John*, James & Patrick; sisters Ann & Ellen; wife Bridget & one child. Could read & write. * Might be the John McParland (aged 35) who married widow Bridget McCormack1853 Tas. ** A Peter McPartlan (1842 Irl - 1904 Tas) was also in Tasmania. MACGUIRE, John (1826-1847 Tas) mother Mary; brothers Patrick & Phillip. Could read and write. REYNOLDS, Francis (1822-1896 Tas) mother Ellen, brothers James & Francis (transported with him); sister Mary. Could read and write. REYNOLDS, Owen (1813- unknown date and place) older brother of Francis (above); wife Ellen & three children. Could not read or write. Perhaps descendants of the relatives of the above-named men can answer my query?
