Surnames: Clarke/Gilheeney Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YWC.2ACI/5028 Message Board Post: My G-grandfather Patrick James Clarke was born 1865 at Ballinamore, Leitrim, came to America via Boston and settled in Providence, Rhode Island sometime before 1885 when my Grandfather was born. He was married to Maria Theresa Gilheeney, but I don't know if this was before or after he went to America. I have a letter postmarked 190?(the last number is illegible) from Patrick's mother 'Kitty' to my Grandfather after she visited them in Providence. It is hand-stamped from Ballinamore, so I'm thinking that Patrick probably emigrated without his parents. He was a teamster and a farrier before emigrating. Now I'm wondering if there are still Clarkes in Lietrim that may be 'distant cousins'. If any of this sounds familiar please e-mail me - I would love to hear from you.
