This is a quick synopsis of my connection with the Croftons' and my descendency: Major-General Richard Henry Crofton of Lakefield Co. Leitrim Ireland and Powick, worcestershire was the 4th son of Duke Crofton of Lakefield. Born January 31, 1818 he married on 22 June 1848 to Frances Mary Marsh, daughter of Arthur Cuthburt Marsh of Eastbury Park, Herfordshire. They had issue of three sons (now extinct) and a daughter. He had further issue by Emily Catherine Brown (These were illegitimate) younger daughter of William James Brown of Gravesend, Kent by his wife Catherine Ann Atkins, daughter of William Atkins of Ardagh Co. Cork. The Reverend William Crofton-Atkins was a product of the latter union. Emily subsequently married William Randell of Combe Bank, Kent and died November 28, 1899 aged 79. Major General Crofton died 23 March 1897.
