Ann Austin from Co. Leitrim married John Spellman from Co. Mayo around 1835 or 1836 most likely after he left Ireland. Their children Mary Ann and James were born in St. Albans, Vermont. I suspect Ann and John came by way of Canada. John Spellman left a wife Catherine "X" and three children, Patrick (Paul), Michael and Bridget Spellman Craig in Ireland before coming to the United States and starting a new family. They later found him in Rock Run Township, Stephenson County, Illinois. He then gave them money to begin farming in Iowa. I'm looking for any information regarding Ann Austin or John's first family.
