If your grandmother isn't in the 1901 Leitrim census then you should look for her in the US 1900 census. She may have already emigrated by that time. Otherwise, you need to know specifically where she was living in Ireland in 1901 to look at the census microfilms for that location to find her. The 1901 and 1911 Irish census records haven't as yet been officially computerised or put online. Leitrim and a few other counties are online because a group of volunteers have taken the information from the microfilms and put it online. You should also look for her ships record in the Ellis Island NY database. There aren't any census records in Ireland before 1901 so you'd need to find any family information in the Irish civil registrations microfilms. Irish civil records aren't computerised or online.
