Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YWC.2ACI/5376.1 Message Board Post: Hello Shirley, There are Carsons and Trotters listed in the online 1901 Leitrim census. See http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census/census.shtml enter each surname, select Leitrim as your search county and you'll see the entries. There are no Warks listed in that census. Without parents names for your ancestors as well as a location of birth in Leitrim, i.e. town/townland and civil parish, it can be somewhat difficult to connect to these families. There are no census records before 1901 and civil registration didn't start in Ireland until 1864. So church registers for the specific location of birth in Leitrim would be the source for family information. Their availability depends on the location as well as the religious denomination. You can research Samuel Carson and Ann Trotter's civil and church records in Canada to find their parents names and specific location of birth in Leitrim. Their children's civil and church records may include where their parents were born in Leitrim. Or you can try to research the church registers for the 1901 locations of Carsons and Trotters in Leitrim and see if you can make a connection that way. Church registers aren't computerised or centralised. You would need to know Samuel and Ann's religious denomination to determine what church registers exist for the locations of Trotters and Carsons in the 1901 census records and how they might be accessed.
