Nearly every home in Ireland was named, ? House. They were named by the owners if they were in the country or in a row in the small towns. They kept these names and it was their mailing address. Also, many Irish people were so poor, even in my parents time that when they had another child and knew they couldn't feed or clothe them, often a close relative or an in law took the child and raised them. In this way, they lived close to the original family and were still a part of it. I am 65 and was born in Leitrim.
