    2. Rose, I don't believe there is a church in corracloona townland - there is an ancient megalithic tomb/cairn there, but that is not what you seek. I think the closest church may have been in Kiltyclogher town which is not far from Corracloona. I've been on a website that lists births/baptisms in Co. Leitrim held by the Leitrim Heritage Centre, and the earliest Bernard Keany baptism would be in 1841, eleven years after your Bernard. In all likelihood there isn't a record for your Bernard's birth/baptism, unless he really was stretching the truth about his age later in life. Perhaps there were other Keany families living in that area from which you might find information about your Keany family. Good luck in your search. Bill Bray in Virginia

    3. What's the address of this Web site that you're referring to? 3. I'm not sure who is inquiring in this post, is it Rose ??? Anyway, there are five families in Corracloona in the 1901 census. There are descriptions of three on a Keaney hand out sheet given to me the day before I left Ireland in 2002. A huge Keaney, Keany Reunion was to start the next day and I hated to miss it. A few wonderful people compiled this sheet. I have Keanys in my family too and if I had my way, I would spend all of my days and nights in Ireland "searching". 1. Laurence-Kate 45, Ellen 13, Agnes 11, Lizzie 9, Teresa 7, Laurence 5 and Bridget 3. (This land is owned by the Chandler family, Mrs Chandlers mother being Bridget Keaney who married Dinney O'Brien. The Lawrence who is mentioned may have emigrated to Minnesota. 2. Catherine-Francis 26, Annie 23, and Hugh 22. Hugh is possibly the grandfather of Eammon Keaney who still lives in Corracloona. Eamons father was John Hughie Neddie. 3. Elizabeth-John 40, Rose 32, Ellin 25 and Edward 23. Place known as Paddy Red Toms and was near Kellys house. Edward wasn't married and was the last to live here. His sister didn't marry and died before him. The family is connected to the James Pat Jimmy Keanys of Cloonaghmore who are descended from John Keany of Cornamon. 4. Denis-Bridget 50, wife Patrick Travers. 5. Mary-not married. As I was told, an old man with a good memory helped make up these notations. This Keany name seems like it would be hard to trace as there are so many in Ireland and the US. (Again-someone else deserves credit for compiling these notes.
