Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YWC.2ACI/5421.1 Message Board Post: There aren't any vital records in Ireland before 1864 and no census records for the 1800s. There aren't any records of who emigrated or where they went. The major source for family information would be baptismal records wherever they were baptised locally in County Leitrim. Looking for baptismal records would be the same in the US. You'd need to know the specific location where the baptism was to find the local church that might have the record. So you'll need to find specifically where they were from in County Leitrim from the emigrants civil and church records wherever they lived in the US as well as their children's civil and church records. US naturalisation records may also give you their birth location. Otherwise, you can have Leitrim Heritage Centre research fee-based for you county wide to find the baptismal records. They may not all have been baptised in the same location.
