Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YWC.2ACI/4942.2 Message Board Post: For those looking at the Irish in Morrow County you should try Michael Whelan's Book "The Parish of Aughavas" where he speaks of several of them (but no O'Briens that I can see). There is also a book "Shamrocks and Shepherds; The Irish in Morrow County" by John Kilkenny although I don't know if this is easily available.

    2. I can't help you with descendants -- but I do have some baptismal information from the 1830s-1840s. If you don't have that, I'll be happy to share. My interest is in HUGH PRIOR and ALICE (maiden name unknown). Their known children are: John Prior, b. 1799 James Prior, b. 1806 Margaret Prior, b. 1818 Bridget Prior, b. 1819 Alice Prior, b. 1820 There were probably other children... big gaps in years there. The above children emigrated and settled in Providence, R.I. Several of his nieces and nephews went to Morrow County, Oregon. They were the O'Briens from Co Leitrim. If you have a specific date of emigration for any O'Briens, probably about 1900, please let me know and I might be able to put you in touch with family still in Ireland. Great idea to take the fiddle students back to their roots where there is a strong musical tradition.

My aunt lives in Tullaghan, she may have some info. Otherwise check the Heritage Centre at either Carrick-on-Shannon or Ballinamore Co.Leitrim. Margaret & Dan had no children so your connection may be via other family members if from the same Clancy family. I believe the Clancy Family of Kinlough helped sailors of one of the Spanish shipwrecks off the coast of Leitrim/Sligo in the 1600s. Anyway, check the Kinlough Web. Go to Google and type in Kinlough, Co. Leitrim, the page on Kinlough should come up. Good luck. Eithe Vinton

    1. [LEITRIM] Tithe Applotment Books
    2. Hello Leitrim Lads and Lassies. I recently rented a LDS microfilm of the Tithe Applotment Books for Innishmagrath civil parish which I photocopied. I am not happy with the results because of poor handwriting and poor quality of some of the photos. Too many pages are not legible. Question - Is there a printed version of TAP available online or in a library some where which I could access? The only CD of TAP that I am aware of is Family Tree Maker's/ Broderbund CD # 262 which includes only the six counties of Northern Ireland. Regards, Tom O'Hare, Buffalo, NY, USA

Leitrim 1901 census. This may be Michael Patrick and Margaret Gilroy's parents. It's by townland, civil parish and barony: Wardhouse, Rossinver, Rosclogher: Household Gilroy Patrick(60) Farmer Maggie(56) wife-Winnie(23) daughter-Catherine Rooney(62) visitor While many Irish emigrants referred to their townland or civil parish as their place of origin, others referred to the closest town (market centre) since it was a more recognizable name rather than the civil divisions. See http://www.ancestry.com/library/view/news/articles/2435.asp for a fuller description of these civil divisions. I did find the following Gilroy in Mohill Town (including the civil parish and barony): Mohill T./Glebe Street, Mohill, Mohill: Household Gilroy Stephen (56) Cattle dealer Maria(45)-Stephen(16)-Bridget(14)-Charles(15)-Lizzie(9) You can see the entire Co.
