Hello Everyone, I'm new to the list and would like to ask some questions in addition to posting my County Laois surnames. In Edward Fitzpatrick's (my great, great-grandfather) U.S. Civil War pension files there is an affadavit from his wife Catherine Dooley stating that she was born in Killimore, Upper Woods, County Queens. I cannot find any Killimore in Laois but I do find a townland called Killinure in Upper Woods. Am I right in assuming that this is what she meant? The affadavit was typed, not hand-written so may have been dictated to someone else. If Killinure is what she meant, how can I find out what Catholic parish would have her baptism records? I believe Upper Woods is in the Civil Parish of Offerlane. When I look up Offerlane in familysearch.org, the only church records I find are those for Borris-in-Ossory. Catherine Dooley was born about 1830-1840 to Patrick Dooley and Bridget Marnel (maybe Marnell). She came to New Britain, CT. 1850-1860 and married Edward Fitzpatrick, son of John Fitzpatrick and Mary Brophy. He also says he was from County Queens and was born about 1840. Thanks for your help.
