John Case Whittaker and his wife Susan Carter came from Abbeyleix County Laois, Ireland. John C. Whittakers ancestors were in County Carlow up to 1798 when several were killed in the "Uprising of 98". They got to Ireland in 1650, they were awarded lands for their support of Cromwell's Irish invasion under the "Adventurers" Act. Do you know of a book that lists the Adventurers, where they came from and what lands they were awarded? This source says there is one at the University of California in the Irvine Library.
