Doonane is the next townland to the west of Newtown and abuts it. It extends from there right to the Kilkenny border to the west. It appears to contain 20 or 30 houses and a church. It's a large townland at about 2 1/2 square miles. Aghreena (not listed in the IreAtlas Townlands list, for some reason) is the next townland to the south of Newtown (and abuts it, too). It lies right along the east side of the N 78 highway. And the NEXT townland south of Aghreena is....ta da !!! .... Clonbrock. These two townlands appear to have about 20 houses between them, but I don't have boundaries to show the division. So, all of these townlands are within a couple of miles of Newtown. By the way, the Mayo you asked about in your last letter is shown at 613 767 on Discovery map 61 (all of these places are on that map), and is about 2 miles SSE of Newtown and 2 miles E of Crettyard.
