It just so happens one of my Aunts was a Lock Keeper on the River Barrow and my cousin may be able to help with the info that you want also a Video of the programme if it is available on the market. I have a number of Dowling's listed in a book called 'Gravestone Inscriptions for Killeshin' ( and other graveyards in the Killeshin Parish) by Paul Redmond N.T. It was published in May 1997 by J.P.F. PRINT, Stradbally, Co. Laois. IRL Tel: 00 353 502 25326. As far as I know this book is still available at any good book shop in Carlow Town such as Chapter 2 Bookshop, 96 Tullow Street, Carlow. IRL. Tel: 00 353 503 31674 Also researching the following members of my family: Moran, Brennan, Bulger/Bolger, Lawler/Lalor/Lawlor, Kelly, Kavanagh, McDonald, in the Counties of Leix, Dublin & Meath, Ireland also looking for Alstead and Stanley in Yorkshire England. Do you have any knowledge of Barge People on the Barrow River in Carlow My grandfather Michael Whelan was Born in England on their barge(probably a coal barge)which travelled fr Ire. to Engl.Ere tv had a documentary about the Barrow river barges early this year and I would love to purchase it if it is for sale.
