Hi listers I am researching the history of my G/Uncle John Brennan from Co. Laois. IRL who served in WW1. Unfortunately no records exist for him in PRO Kew, England as it seems his records were amoung those records that were distroyed during WW2. I would like to know where can I find information about the where the The Royal Irish Rifles recruited in Southern Ireland prior to WW1 breaking out. I would like to know if anyone has done any research for soldiers who served with this regiment and went missing in action and like me, cannot find any information on record about my Great Uncle in the PRO at Kew or the Commonwealth Graves Web site. Has anyone got copies of newspaper cuttings from local papers in Co. Laois which tells about men who left for the front, men you won medals, men woh didn't return after the war was over. THIS IS REALLY A SHOT IN THE DARK AS I AM HOPING THAT ONE DAY I WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WHO MAY HAVE INFORMATION THAT WILL HELP ME LOCATE MY JOHN BRENNAN FROM CO.LAOIS.
